Role description:

We are looking to recruit a Chef with high level craft skills and an ability to deliver service user meals provision within our three Care Homes. Our successful candidate will be a real foodie with fantastic organisational skills. This vacancy is for approximately 30 hours per week.

You will need to be flexible working between our three homes two based in Southport and one in Ormskirk. You will also be responsible for the provision of food for which ever of the homes you are working at within the group. We are wanting to challenge the general concept of Care Home food and want to be innovative in our approach, with a view to gaining professional awards for our food.

We will expect you to:

  • Provide and maintain an excellent and efficient service within the Group of all areas of your control, following company values, policies and procedures.
  • Have an in depth understanding of the nutritional needs of the elderly including diabetes, soft diets etc.
  • A knowledge of Allergens and the legislation involved
  • Ensure the delivery of great nutritional food and food/hygiene standards across the Group
  • Promote Theme days, and actively encourage service user participation in our themed events
  • Actively involve yourself with the homes daily activities, including afternoon teas and buffets
  • Responsible for the organisation of food requirements for Events, such as the summer Fair and Christmas Bonanza
  • Implement and maintain statutory and company standards of hygiene, food safety and health & safety
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships both with company individuals and client personnel at all levels
  • Work with other members of the team within the group to ensure service excellence at all time.

Your daily working hours will generally be from 7am - 6pm, which will include weekends.

You will need to be flexible to cover for holidays and absences where needed. At times this may be at short notice.

  • Qualifications and Skills

Level 3 Diploma in Professional Cookery (QCF)

  • Ensure the delivery of great nutritional food and food/hygiene standards across the Group
